Budget matters, but experience matters more. The last thing I want is for my client to come back hating the place we booked. The resort you choose can completely shape your vacation. Before it’s time to book, there are a few key things every travel agent should have reviewed before recommending a resort.
- The Vibe + Guest Experience
Every resort has a personality and it matters. Some are lively with DJs, pool parties, and big entertainment. Others are quiet, romantic, or wellness-focused. A mismatch here can make or break your trip. This includes age range of typical guests, family friendly or adults-only, reviews (oh so many reviews). It helps to know your brands and who they are trying to attract. Luckily I’ve done hours and hours of training on the major brands like Sandals, Beaches, Secrets, Dreams, and more. - Beach + Location Quality
Not all Caribbean beaches are created equal (even on the same island). Is the beach swimmable, calm, windy, sandy, rocking, or (worse) seaweed-prone? - What’s Actually Included
“All-inclusive” doesn’t mean the same thing everywhere. I look closely at restaurant quality, reservation policies, room service rules, resort credits vs. true inclusions, included activities, and more. Then I make sure my clients know exactly what to expect when they arrive.
The Caribbean is full of incredible resorts, but the best one for you depends on the experience you want, not just the price tag. This doesn’t mean I ignore budgets. I just believe in communicating what to expect for the money. When you understand the vibe, the beach quality, and what’s truly included, you’re far more likely to land in a place that feels right for you within your budget.
